The challenge

In Belgium, a major renovation is underway at the Pierre Vandamme lock, the entrance to the inner port of Zeebrugge. Part of the renovation was the refurbishment of the 2,500T lock gate. In addition to a makeover on the outside (oysters and sludge removed and a new layer of paint), new technologies were also added to the door.

The Situation/Circumstances

After the refurbishment, it was time to put the door back in its old position. We supplied 4x electro hoists (15T), 4x digital load indicators (15T), 4x electric winches (10T) and slings and shackles. On behalf of LGH Davy Kraft was there to do his bit. All in all, the whole operation took about 14 hours and the whole thing went quite smoothly.
