A lot of infrastructure work is currently underway in Germany and we are also contributing with our equipment and know-how. This is also the case in Hamburg, where our customer Thömen Spedition GmbH & Co. KG was faced with the challenge of erecting a temporary pedestrian bridge.

The challenge

The Berliner Tor train and underground station in Hamburg has been under renovation since 2015. Due to the expansion of the rail network to and from Hamburg Central Station and the growing number of passengers, pedestrian bridges and crossings were necessary.

In cooperation with Thomas Meyer, one of our lifting experts, the wooden bridge with steel construction and frame was erected using our WLL 110 t 13.5 m x 5.0 m modular 4-point spreader. In the course of this long-term project, a few weeks later, we also delivered the same system with the same WLL, but with a size of 11.0 x 5.0 m.

“Time” was the greatest challenge in this project, as the main road and the railway were temporarily closed for the placement of the pedestrian bridge and had to be fully accessible again on time according to the schedule. Thanks to the good cooperation and the smooth process, the project was completed on schedule.
