Energy & Utilities
The energy and utilities sector is still extremely dynamic: we are increasingly seeing the adaptation of existing coal and nuclear power plants to comply with new statutory regulations, and the building from scratch of new plants for the generation of electricity from renewable energies.
These projects all have one thing in common: they are extremely complex and require the lifting and movement of heavy components. Plant sections are generally assembled on-site, which also requires special lifting and assembly machinery. Our customers in the energy and utilities industry are able to benefit from our comprehensive fleet of well maintained equipment and more than 40 years of professional expertise gained in the field. With our support, you can relax in the knowledge that your assembly and service projects will be completed with a minimum of investment and with the utmost professional precision.
A portal scraper – 28 metres long, 63 metres wide and weighing 215 tonnes - could be erected and mounted precisely in the ground on-site at the new energy block 9 at the power plant Kohlekraftwerk Mannheim within 56 hours using LGH’s 400t modular spreading system.
The Netherlands branch of Bosch Rexroth was commissioned to convert an empty hall into a full-service workshop in as short a time as possible. To do this, they used three aluminium gantries with a load capacity of 2 tonnes, three 2-tonne electrical chain hoists, lifting slings and shackles from LGH.
Installation of a total of 8 HP feedwater heaters for the construction of a new brown coal power station at Grevenbroich-Neurath. Specially customised by Balcke-Dürr GmbH, the heaters each had an outer diameter of 3.40 m and weighed 270 tonnes and their installation required implementation of two 50-tonne air chain hoists from LGH.
